After the rise of agriculture, many civilizations started to develope long-distance trade routes to expand their individual regional influence. New advance navigation technologies and transportation connected all the world zones causing global exchange and collective learning. Since the modern revolution, many people believe that over the last 300 years, advancements in medicine and technology, ease of access of knowledge and information, along with an increased awareness of a global community have improved human experience. However, many claim that this process has raised new issues and humankind must overcome. Modern Revolution has ultimately had a negative impact on the Earth and humans because it is making everything more advanced which is bad for Earth’s environment and raises more problems and issues for humans.
The human population has grown substantially since the beginning of the modern revolution, it has started to grow so much, that we are dealing with overpopulation issues. The life expectancy, birth rates and total population size has increased, “from 1700 to 2100 the life expectancy has gone from 27 to 81 years” (text #1) The modern revolution had a negative impact because there are more people and more mouths to feed. We only have one Earth and so much space before we build all over it, then our resources will run out leaving humans and animals in trouble. Since the modern revolution are total population has gone “from .68 to 9.46 billion people” (text #1) Our natural resources are running out very quickly and we have started to use artificial resources. Governments are using new powers to control their own populations to wage war on other societies and people, “the total number of killings committed by governments between 1900-1999 is about 169,202,000” (text #7). Governments should not be killing their own people, but letting them die from natural causes. When a population is so big natural consequences will weed out the weak ones. The artificial resources that humans have made, they are turning on themselves and killing. These artificial resources have not only taken a toll on our Earth but also on our bodies, we are not longer as healthy as we used to be. The population of humankind has not only affected the animals that we have domesticated, but also Earth.
With the human kind population’s size increasing, so is the new invention and these new discoveries can only be done when someone is educated. Many people are educated and can read and read all around the world, however, “the actual number of illiterate people has increased from 1.08 billion to 1.28 billion people” (text #3). As the world’s population is growing the actual number of illiterate people have increase which is a negative. This is bad because as a uneducated human you do not help better society, but you will be considered a weak one and hold a society back or bring them down. In urban cities most people are very well educated, “experts think that nearly 70 percent of the world population will be urban by 2050” (Text #2). As the world becomes more of a modern population, cities increased because the work in rural areas decreased. This is a negative impact because more cities are being built and what is going to happen when we build the whole Earth and then we will have to find other places to live like maybe different planets. With the people that are educated decreasing we will not be able to go to others plants before the Earth exploded like it has in history, and history repeats itself. For humankind to survive people need to get more educated and be very good to Earth’s environment, so new innovations and discoveries can be possible.
The new medicine advancements and new inventions help humans but also affect the Earth in a negative way. A newer medical advancement that have save many humans from getting sick and has increase the number of plagues and world wide disease is vaccines. Vaccines in the United States help stop the spread of disease but not in other parts in the world, were those vaccines are not offered, “there are about 1.5 million children in the world who die from disease that could be prevent by disease” (text #5). This is a negative impact because these vaccines and medical advancements are in the United States but the rest of the world is not getting these toxic vaccines. Humans used to have immunities to these diseases but since adding these toxins when have close to no immunity. When the resources run out humankind will die as a whole because we have no immunity to any plagues or carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide levels are increasing in the Earth's atmosphere, “in the last 10,000 years thought to cause global warming and climate changes”(text #8). The carbon dioxide levels can poison humans and the Earth if there is too much. If carbon dioxide levels are not controlled, all of our resources will die starting with the cold arctic areas and go all the way until they cause the death of the Earth.
The modern revolution has had an overall negative impact, on the Earth and humankind. With the size of population increasing substantially, we have been dealing with population issues and government using their power negativity against humankind. With the population increasing so have the number of uneducated people, the number of uneducated people is going up and with that we are not able to better society. New medical advances ments such as vaccines are good but the also bring down our natural immunities and when resources run out humankind will die and so will the Earth. Humankind needs to start making things similar and taking care of our Earth because we only have one.
