These are the slab projects. They are like mugs that you can drink out of. One skill I used and learned from this work was putting the clay on the rolling table and not molding it from your hands. One element and or principe of design most emphased in the work was using the rolling to form the original shape of the project then rolling it around the rolling pin and sliping and scoring it to create the base of the mug. The skill helped create something new because you then had to cut of the bottom and make handles. The bigger mug is more for teas and I gave it to my mom as a Mother's Day gift.
The smaller mug is more for coffee with a handle only big enough for a finger to fit. One skill I learned from this project was how to mold the mug sides without a rolling pin because it was to small to fit. One element and or principle of design most emphased in this mug was the form of the sides of the mug being very smooth, and thinner then the first mug. It was very balanced through out the mug piece. This skill helped create the mug that had a good bottom with a unique handle that only fits one finger. It is very interesting because not many mugs have room for just one finger like this one.
