This very small bowl was created by using a wheel to throw clay. It was originally going to be a plate but after centering it and pulling it out wards. The clay ended up having a bubble. Instead of just starting over, I rather took a pin tool a trimmed the clay under the bubble. After trimming off most of the clay I used skills such as keeping the clay centering while pulling up the wall and trimming and compressing the rim the keep it even. This project was glazed with the colors: black, blue and clear. Originally only the outside of the project was dipped in black glaze then sponged off the bottom and any that got on the rim. After the black dried, it was dipped completely in clear glaze. After it was dried, blue glaze was painted on only the rim. The black glaze was dipped down the inside walls and then ran together to create a black blob in the middle. Art elements used to create this project was the contrasting glazing techniques of dipping, painting and dropping different glazes on the projects surface. These colors help to give this little bowl texture, the colors give the surface a quality that can be interpenetrated as andelt. The different colors of glazes balanced each other out very well, the colors give the bowl an unique visual texture that work in harmony with each other. This projects shows how I am willing to mix different techniques and colors into one project and to not give up right away after sometime goes bad. Especially when throwing projects on the wheel it is a lot of trial and error and learning how to say goodbye and starting over.
